Xu Zhimo, from a small town, pursued Zheng Ruyi, who came from a cadre family, after college. Zheng Ruyi chose to marry Xu Zhimo over her childhood friend Gu Han. After marriage, Xu Zhimo had an affair with his boss Lin Dan and met the beautiful Lin Wanwan, leading to repeated betrayals that devastated Ruyi. At this time, Gu Han returned from abroad. Xu Zhimo, after graduating from university, wanted to stay in the city and left his girlfriend of eight years to marry Zheng Ruyi, fulfilling his wish to settle in the city. Zheng Ruyi, from a cadre family, was favored by her neighbor Gu Han since childhood. Gu Han always regarded Ruyi as his future wife, but Ruyi chose Xu Zhimo. Post-marriage, Xu Zhimo engaged in an extramarital affair with his boss Lin Dan for career advancement, starting a clandestine relationship with a woman a decade older than him to secure a higher position. Meanwhile, he also encountered the charming Lin Wanwan, who, despite her seductive appearance, was a simple romantic at heart. She believed Xu Zhimo was her destined prince under his sweet talk, longing for a wealthy and loving life with him. Upon learning of Xu Zhimo's new love interest, Lin Dan instructed Su Ran to seduce Xu Zhimo, exposing his infidelity to his wife and demoted him at work. To salvage his future, Xu Zhimo had to appease Lin Dan. Meanwhile, Gu Han, who had returned to the country, encountered the devastated Ruyi. Gu Han and Ruyi's best friend, Lu Lu, joined forces to defeat Xu Zhimo in business and, with the help of Lin Dan and Su Ran, reclaimed the marital assets Xu Zhimo had transferred. Gu Han won Ruyi's true love, and they agreed to walk the path of happiness together.
